Bright skies with a Small Scope

This page lists some of the best targets for a small scope in bright skies.

From downtown and urban areas:

  • Open and Globular Clusters
  • The Moon, Jupiter and Saturn
  • Bright Nebulas, like the Orion Nebula, M17 (the Swan or Omega nebula)
  • Double Stars
  • Very Bright Galaxies, like Andromeda, M81, M82
  • Bright Planetary Nebula

Here is a link for urban observers: Urban Skies.  Search the web for "Urban Astronomy" or "Urban Stargazing"

As you head out of the city, more becomes visible.
