This site is about what you can see in the sky, with the naked eye and using inexpensive telescopes.

The first thing to understand is the type of things you potentially can see when you go out and look up.

The second thing is pointing out why you may not be able to see some things from one place and not another or at one time and not another.

But even if you "know nothing" about the sky, if you find yourself away from the city at night, go out, look up.  Take a moment.  If there's no bright moon and few city lights, your eyes will dark adapter after a few moments.  Take a look, it's beautiful.
