Here's my summary (please plagiarize freely):

Having an easy-to-use and appropriately-capable library loaner scope:

  • provides a logical follow up to our annual Astronomy Day outreach program
  • provides a "wow factor" draw to science/astronomy when sitting in the library
  • allows a student and family to enjoy the moon, planets and deep sky objects at their own pace in a leisurely manner
  • allows a student and family to explore their interest in owning a telescope without having to first buy one
  • with accompanying student-tailored documentation weds 
  • optical theory to first-hand visceral experience
  • provides a foundation/anchor to new group activities including equipment training and observing.

Followup requirement requests

Taken from the application form, the following information may be requested after the grant has been awarded:

Feedback from the school representative identifying the benefits provided by this program will be requested. Photographs will be appreciated. Feedback and photographs will be done in the form of an online survey and you will be sent the web link after your sponsorship check is mailed or delivered in person to the school.
